The 2010 Short Course Junior Olympics concluded yesterday at the Coronado BBMAC pool with enthusiastic crowds cheering on their swimmers, undeterred by the passing rain showers throughout the day.  SI age group swimmers combined to set 13 new Junior Olympic records (7 individual and 6 relay), of which 7 (1 individual and all 6 relays) were also fast enough to shatter the existing San Diego-Imperial Swimming LSC record. New records set on Sunday included:

- Rochelle Dong of Rancho San Dieguito in the 13-14 Girls 100Y Free
- * Pacific Swim in the 10&Under Boys 200Y Medley Relay
- * North Coast Aquatics in the 13-14 Girls 400Y Medley Relay
In the team competition, North Coast Aquatics was crowned the overall meet champion with 3512.5 points, followed by Pacific Swim with 2393.5 and Heartland Swim Association with 1922.5 points (there were quite a few ties in finals this year). Â Individual High Point winners were:

The weather for the start of the 2010 Senior Classic couldn’t have been better… and we had a wonderful sunset during the final heats of the 1000 yard freestyle. Â Eric Hedlin from NCA set a new meet record in the 1000 free with a blistering time of 9:20.27 – congratulations! Â Thanks to all for putting up with a technical “challenge” during the early heats. Â Results are available at the link:

Team job assignments for this weekend’s LSC-hosted Senior Classic have been announced – see the link. Â Thanks to Heartland Swimming Association for volunteering to do check-in and North Coast Aquatics for stepping up and putting together an 11th-hour hospitality plan. Â As always at the Senior Classic, there are no assigned lane timing assignments, so volunteer timers are always needed!

The meet formats for both JOMAX meets were updated today to correct typographic errors. Â For each JOMAX meet, a number of 9-10 age group events were changed to 10 & under events. Â This change will allow 8 & under swimmers to enter 100s of each stroke, the 200 IM, and participate in relay events.

The SI Program Committee has announced the results of a second round of bidding for Summer 2010 season meets. Â 4 meets were available to be hosted, and qualified bids were received for 2 of the 4 meets. The long course May 28-30 AB All Ages meet was awarded to NCA, and the short course June 12-13 BC All Ages (South) meet was awarded to CNSA. Â Because no bids were received for the April 23-25 ABC All Ages (North) meet, the committee voted to combine that meet with the April 30-May 2 ABC All Ages (South) meet and instead offer an AB All Ages meet to be hosted by CNSA. Â The other meet up for bid, a July 10-11 Senior Meet, was dropped from the schedule due to lack of interest by prospective meet hosts.
